We started our day by welcoming the campers at the parish hall which is at the edge of the French Quarter. Once everyone had arrived, we began with our first art project, t-shirts uniquely designed with hand prints, followed by decorating colorful hats with names and stick-on jewels.
After lunch and a stroll into the Quarter, the students received an intro to sketching by Sr. Regina Marie. They began by sketching what they saw which included aspects of New Orleans architecture. Once returned to camp, we had song and dance, storybook time, snacks, and a final project of the day. This ink blowing project produced some real masterpieces.
Children waiting to be picked up in the afternoon after this fun-filled day, all seemed eager to return tomorrow. We, too, later revived by snowballs and a pizza supper with all the local Ursulines, look forward to continued service with these precious children.
