Winter snuck up on me. This year it seems to come and go. It returned early this morning. This is the view of the small pond in front of our Ursuline office building—bare trees, frozen water, and a light dusting of snow. Peaceful. Stark. Still.
I would say that God is a lot like that. God can seem to come and go. And then he sneaks up on me with something completely unexpected. It can feel like a call to stillness, or a glimpse of peace amid the cares of the day. Sometimes God intervenes at just the right moment and whispers, “Be still and know that I am God.” That’s when I remember that there’s nothing to fear, and that all shall be well. Winter is a marvelous teacher. How is God speaking to you this winter season?
