If you’ve been reading this blog, you know that I was in New Orleans last week for Sr. Regina’s summer Art Camp for children. We Ursulines and our Ursuline volunteers had a real experience of Serviam—I Will Serve– motto of Ursuline schools all over the world.
Serviam is more than just hours of service or doing good projects. Core to the Gospel message of Jesus, this motto is something to be lived and forms people for life. This past year, Sr. Jean and I met with Ursuline alums in various parts of the USA, and what we heard was loud and clear. Serviam is a call from God that’s real, gives a focus that permeates life, and means more to them now than ever before.
“Reflect that you have a greater need to serve than others have of your service,” said St. Angela. Putting service at the heart of one’s life makes a difference for all involved.
