Last Sunday our Sister Ann Ruth Dumas, OSU professed final vows in New Rochelle, New York. Sr. Annie made her novitiate here in Chicago, and then returned to New York to complete her formation. On Sunday, surrounded by the Ursuline community, her family and friends Sr. Annie took the final step, that of publicly saying Yes to God forever. Our call from God is a mystery and invites us simply to accept freely and joyfully the love that God offers us. Our Ursuline Constitutions says it this way:
Our religious consecration, rooted in that of baptism, is a covenant in which we freely respond in faith to the gratuitous call of God. We surrender ourselves completely to God for his honor and service by the public profession of our three vows received by the Church.
Most recently, Sr. Annie has ministered in the Math Department at The Ursuline School in New Rochelle. Later this month she will leave the States for two years of service with the Ursulines in Guyana. Annie is no stranger to Guyana, and has spent shorter times of service there over the last several years.
Annie is a faithful Backlit reader and commenter. So here’s a shout-out: Annie, we hope to hear from you while you are there and share with our readers an insight into your new life and ministry.
