Our regular readers know that last week Sr. Elisa and I were in Dallas visiting our Ursuline high school. Last Friday we joined the students, faculty, and staff for a school Mass for the Feast of St. Angela Merici. Three of our Ursuline Sisters celebrated their Golden JubilDallas_50Jubilee2013ee of religious consecration.  On the cover of the Mass booklet you can see their photos alongside a statue of St. Angela from the Church of St. Angela in Desenzano, Italy, Angela’s hometown.

Besides Sr. Elisa and I, the Ursuline Sisters in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area joined the celebration. Of the 14 Ursulines present, 6 were graduates of Ursuline Academy Dallas. What a legacy! And the three jubilarians together make 150 years of vowed Ursuline life. Between them they have served in Alaska, California, Illinois, Minnesota and Texas. They have ministered as liturgists, formators, provincials, musicians, educators, mimes, and pastoral ministers.

It gave us all great joy to celebrate the feast and the jubilee together with the UA Dallas community. And we’re confident that there will continue to be generous young women from the Dallas community with the spark of St. Angela’s charism who will continue to respond to God’s call to Ursuline life.
