This week Sr. Elisa and I are in Dallas, Texas to visit Ursuline Academy. It’s a joy for us to be with the students, faculty, and staff and to share our Ursuline life with them. The minute you walk on campus you feel the Ursuline spirit and heritage which began here in 1874. The Ursuline spirit of Serviam, Latin for I will serve, shines here as students at all levels use their God-given gifts and talents to serve the needs of others at the local, national, and international levels.
A special event on campus this week which we’ll get to participate in will be the all-school Mass in honor of our foundress, St. Angela Merici. And if that isn’t special enough, three of our Texas Ursulines will renew their vows during the liturgy in celebration of their Golden Jubilee of religious profession. Sisters Lois Castillon, Karen Schwane, and Jill Jaeb all have ties to Ursuline Academy and to Ursuline life in Dallas. Join us all this Friday in a prayer of gratitude for the lives of these Sisters and for the spirit of St. Angela who is alive and well deep in the heart of Texas!
