Sr. Jean and I arrived on Friday after a pleasant trip from Chicago. The Italian sun was shining brightly as we were welcomed by so many sisters at our generalate in the northeast section of Rome. It is great to be a part of this big Ursuline family.
As our meeting does not begin until this evening, we spent time Saturday seeing various wonderful things: St. Peter’s basilica, the Caravaggio paintings in the Church of San Luigi, the Pantheon, the rooms where St. Iganatius Loyola once lived, and the Roman Forum. Two of our Asian sisters and M. Cecilia, our Prioress General, enjoyed the day with us.
Sisters are arriving from various parts of the globe: Taiwan, Indonesia, South Africa, Poland, Australia, Guyana, Croatia, and many more. Some of those coming from Europe will arrive today. Sharing meals is always fun, and the laughter becomes infectious as we struggle with the various languages. It is a real experience of the togetherness that St. Angela so desired for us, her daughters.
